Abstract

  • In the province of South Sumatra, the number of non-agricultural businesses resulting from the registration of the 2016 Economic Census (SE2016) reached 656.7 thousand, an increase of 20.5 percent when compared to the number of businesses resulting from the 2006 Economic Census that were recorded at 545 thousand.
  • From a total of 656.7 thousand businesses resulting from SE2016, there were 181.6 thousand businesses occupying special buildings for business premises. Thus, as many as 475 thousand businesses do not occupy special building businesses, such as mobile traders, businesses in residential homes, street vendors, and so forth.
  • Based on the number of businesses, Palembang City has the highest number of businesses, 154 thousand businesses, while Muratara Regency has the smallest number of businesses, which is 10.4 thousand businesses. Based on the growth in the number of businesses, Musi Rawas Regency has the highest business growth of 60.9 percent, while the Four Lawang Regency is the regency / city with the lowest business growth of 0.7 percent.
