Abstract

  • In March 2016, the level of expenditure disparity in the population of South Sumatra (South Sumatra) measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.348. This figure is volatile, down when compared to the March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.360 and an increase compared to the September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.334.
  • South Sumatra Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2016 amounted to 0.373, down by 0.017 points compared to March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.390 and up 0.019 points compared to September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.354. While the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2016 was 0293 decreased by 0.021 points compared to the March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.314 and an increase of 0.007 points compared to the September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.286.
  • During the period March 2015-March 2016, the distribution of expenditure from the lowest 40 percent population group was still in the category of low inequality but the distribution was fluctuating, ie decreasing from 19.27 in March 2015 and 20.51 percent in September 2015 to 18.86 percent in March 2016 .
  • The distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group in urban areas in March 2016 was recorded at 16.77 percent, down compared to March 2015 which was 17.63 percent and 19.21 percent in September 2015. While in rural areas the distribution of expenditure from the lowest 40 percent population group in March 2016 it was 20.86 percent decreased compared to March 2015 (21.28 percent) and September 2015 (22.83 percent).
