Abstract

  • The manufacturing industry sector has a very important role in the national economy, even giving the biggest added value among the eight other GRDP sectors, and remains the leading sector in South Sumatra economy. Nearly 25 percent of the economy in South Sumatra Province is supported by the sector manufacturing industry. In the first quarter of 2012, the contribution of the manufacturing industry to the economy of Sumatra South by 20.5 percent, and there was a slight slowdown in the role of industry in the third quarter of 2011 by 22.10 percent.
  • Production Growth of the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry II quarter of 2012 South Sumatra Province experienced an increase in growth to 3.57 percent compared to the first quarter of 2012 which experienced a slowdown growth of 1.75 percent. The increase in growth in the second quarter was due to an increase growth of the type of food industry which reached 4.47 percent compared to the first quarter that experienced slowing growth of 0.59 percent. In addition, this increase was also caused by the occurrence increased growth in the type of rubber industry and goods from rubber and plastic goods in the second quarter by 0.71 percent compared to the previous quarter which reached 0.54 percent.   • wood industry, wood and cork goods (excluding furniture) and woven goods from bamboo, rattan and in the second quarter of this year experienced a slowdown in growth of 0.13 percent compared to the first quarter in the same year also experienced a slowdown of 2.16 percent.
  • The pace of growth of the Micro and Small Industries in South Sumatra last quarter compared to the previous year experienced a negative growth of 2.35 percent. Also in general during 2012 the Micro industry and small have slowed growth to reach 3.59 percent.
