Abstract

The value of South Sumatra exports in May 2015 decreased by 29.33 percent compared to April 2015. Likewise, when compared with the same period in 2014 (May 2014) exports of South Sumatra Province experienced a decrease of 28.10 percent.

The export value of South Sumatra Province in May 2015 was US $ 193.02 million consisting of oil and gas exports of US $ 23.68 million and US $ 169.33 million of non-oil and gas commodity exports.

Malaysia, the United States and India became the main destination countries for South Sumatra exports in the period January - May 2015, reaching US $ 277.96 million, US $ 175.05 million and US $ 115.81 million, respectively, with the roles of the three reaching 49 , 98 percent of total exports for the period January - May 2015.

Exports to the European Union in January - May 2015 reached US $ 119.21 million (10.47 percent of total exports) and exports to ASEAN which reached US $ 331.13 million (29.09 percent of total exports).

According to the Sector, compared to the January-May 2014 period, exports of industrial products from January to May 2015 declined 19.42 percent while exports of agricultural products increased 4.21 percent and mining products increased 12.36 percent.
