Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in July 2013 was 109.32 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in July 2013 was better than the base year 2007. However, if Compared to the previous month, the July 2013 NTP decreased by 1.16 percent due to an increase in the price index farmers paid was greater than the increase in the price index received by farmers in general.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in July 2013 amounted to 124.14 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the FTT of paddy and secondary crops in July 2013 decreased by 0.31 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in July 2013 was 112.86 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. However, when compared with the previous month, July horticultural FTT fell by 0.98 percent.
  • The NTP of Smallholder Plantations (Planters) in South Sumatra in July 2013 was 90.27 percent, indicating that the purchasing power of planters in South Sumatra was still lower than the base year 2007. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of smallholders in July 2013 decreased 3.57 percent.
  • The Farmers Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in July 2013 was 106.57 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the base year 2007. When compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced an increase of 1.80 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in July 2013 was 111.02 percent. However, when compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen dropped by 2.76 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In July 2013, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 2.65 percent, mainly due to an increase in the price index of the foodstuffs group of 3.64 percent.
