Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP)* South Sumatra in January 2013 was 110.45 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in January 2013 was better than the base year 2007. If Compared to the previous month, the January 2013 NTP increased by 0.21 percent due to the increase in the price index received by farmers in general was higher than the increase in the price index paid by farmers.
  • The NTP of Rice & Palawija in South Sumatra in January 2013 was 125.36 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in January 2013 decreased by 0.09 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in January 2013 was 112.62 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, horticultural FTT in December rose by 0.53 percent.
  • The NTP of People's Plantation Plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in January 2013 was 92.94 percent, indicating that planters in South Sumatra were still experiencing a deficit. When compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in January 2013 increased by 0.76 percent.
  • The Farmers Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in January 2013 was 103.99 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced a decline of 0.49 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in January 2013 was 115.74 percent. When compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen rose by 0.04 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In January 2013, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.50 percent, mainly due to an increase in the health group price index of 0.97 percent.
