Abstract

In May 2012 South Sumatra's exports reached a value of US $ 428.26 million. The value of South Sumatra's exports in May 2012 increased by 10.55 percent compared to April 2012. However, when compared to the same period in 2011 (May 2011) exports of the South Sumatra Province experienced a decrease of 13.57 percent.

The value of non-oil and gas exports in South Sumatra in January - May 2012 was still dominated by rubber commodities which reached a value of US $ 1.31 billion, followed by coal of US $ 57.36 million, and wood / wood products of US $ 12.97 million .

The United States, Malaysia and China were the main destination countries for the export of South Sumatra during January - May 2012, respectively reaching US $ 414.79 million, US $ 390.88 million and US $ 363.72 million, with the roles of the three reaching 61, 36 percent of total exports in January-May 2012.

Exports to the European Union in January - May 2012 reached US $ 190.84 million (10.01 percent of total exports). Exports to the European Union have decreased compared to the same period in 2011 which reached 354.27 Million. While exports to ASEAN reached US $ 442.79 million (23.23 percent of total exports) or increased compared to the same period in 2011 with a value of US $ 411.42 million.
