Abstract

In March 2012 South Sumatra's exports reached a value of US 427.55 million. The value of South Sumatra's exports in March 2012 increased by 23.04 percent compared to February 2012. Likewise, when compared to March 2011, the exports of South Sumatra Province experienced an increase of 0.52 percent.

The value of non-oil and gas exports in South Sumatra in January - March 2012 was still dominated by rubber commodities which reached a value of US $ 719.72 million, followed by coal of US $ 37.23 million, and wood / wood products of US $ 7.26 million.

Malaysia, the United States and China were the main destination countries for South Sumatra exports in March 2012 reaching US $ 120.41 million, US $ 78.24 million and US $ 77.80 million, respectively, with the roles of the three reaching 64.66 percent of total exports for March 2012.

Exports to the European Union in January - March 2012 reached US $ 112.01 million(15.82 percent of total exports). Exports to the European Union have decreased compared to the same period in 2011 which reached 207.75 Million. While exports to ASEAN reached US $ 277.48 Million (17.80 percent of total exports) or increased compared to the same period in 2011 with a value of US $ 233.83 million.
