Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in November 2013 experienced inflation of -0.05 percent (deflation) as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 142.86 (October 2013) to 142.79 (November 2013), while nationally there was inflation of 0.12 percent.
  • Deflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in November 2013 was due to a decrease in CPI in 2 (two) expenditure groups namely: the foodstuffs group (-1.03 percent), and the clothing group (-0.32 percent). While 5 (five) other expenditure groups experienced an increase in CPI, namely the health group (1.82 percent), the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.74 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.23 percent) , prepared food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.10 percent) and the transportation group (0.02 percent).
  • The calendar year inflation of the city of Palembang up to November 2013 was 7.01 percent, while nationally it was 7.79 percent. While inflation "year on year" (November 2013 to November 2012) in the city of Palembang was 7.35 percent, nationally by 8.37 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during November 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it showed that 38 cities experienced inflation and 28 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Maumere (1.54 percent) and the lowest in the city of Sibolga and the city of Mataram (0.03 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Sorong (-1.29 percent) and the lowest in the city of Bengkulu (-0 02 percent)
