Abstract

  • Palembang City in September 2013 experienced inflation of -0.44 percent (deflation) as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 142.31 (August 2013) to 141.68 (September 2013), while nationally there was deflation by -0.35 percent.
  • Deflation that occurred in Palembang in September 2013 was due to a decrease in CPI in 1 (one) expenditure group, namely: foodstuffs group (-2.93 percent), while 6 (six) groups Other expenses experienced an increase in CPI, namely the clothing group (1.86 percent), the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (1.14 percent), the transportation group by (0.25 percent), the group housing, water, electricity and fuel (0.16 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.15 percent) and the health group (0.02 percent).
  • Palembang calendar year inflation up to September 2013 was 6.18 percent, while nationally it was 7.57 percent. While inflation "year on year" (September 2013 to September 2012) in the city of Palembang was 7.21 percent, nationally at 8.40 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during September 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it showed that 13 cities experienced inflation and 53 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Tanjung Pinang (1.70 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in the cities of Sukabumi and Singkawang (0.04 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Sorong (-4.28 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in the city of Surabaya (0.02 percent).
