Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in December 2012 was 110.22 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in December 2012 was better than the base year 2007. However, when compared to the previous month, the December 2012 FTT declined by 0.40 due to an increase in the price index farmers paid was generally higher than the increase in the index the price received by farmers.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in December 2012 was 125.47 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in December 2012 fell by 0.71 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in December 2012 amounted to 112.03 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. However, when compared with the previous month, December horticultural FTT fell by 0.60 percent.
  • NTP People's Plantation Plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in December 2012 amounted to 92.23 percent, indicating that planters in South Sumatra are still experiencing a deficit. However, when compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in December 2012 decreased by 0.02 percent.
  • Farmer Exchange Rates in South Sumatra in December 2012 amounted to 104.51 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the base year 2007. When compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced an increase of 0.01 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in December 2012 was 115.70 percent. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen dropped by 0.03 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In December 2012, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.18 percent, mainly due to an increase in the price index of the foodstuffs group of 0.26 percent.
