Although the value of the South Sumatra Province's democratic index has increased, the level of democracy in South Sumatra is still in the "medium" category as in 2014. The level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "good" (index> 80), "moderate" (index 60 - 80) , and "bad" (index <60).
  • Aspects of the Institute of Democracy (Institution of Democracy) in 2015 amounted to 61.0 decreased quite dramatically by 17.53 points compared to 2014 which amounted to 78.53. But other aspects namely the Civil Liberty Aspect rose 9.97 points from 86.09 in 2014 to 96.06 in 2015 and Political Rights rose 15.22 points from 63.57 in 2014 to 78.79 in 2015.
  • The IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) local newspaper review, (2) document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
  • It is important to note, starting in the 2015 period two new component indicators were applied to the variable "Role of Bureaucracy of Local Governments", as a refinement step to be more sensitive to the current field situation. The two indicators are "Local Government Officials Policy Guilty of PTUN Decree" and "Efforts to Provide APBD Information by Regional Governments".
