Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rates (NTP) * South Sumatra in April 2015 amounted to 97.84 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2015 experienced a decline compared to the base year of 2012. Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, April 2015 NTP decreased by 0.48 percent caused by an increase in the price index received by farmers is smaller than the increase in the price index paid by farmers in general.
  • The Agricultural Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of South Sumatra in April 2015 was 102.31 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2015 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, NTUP April 2015 decreased by 0, 44 percent.
  • The NTP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in April 2015 was 97.81 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2015 declined compared to the base year of 2012. Similarly, when compared to the previous month, the NTP without fisheries in April 2015 decreased by 0, 48 percent.
  • NTUP Without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in April 2015 was 102.34 percent, indicating that in general farmers purchasing power in April 2015 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, NTUP in April 2015 fell by 0.44 percent.
  • Based on NTP and NTUP sub-sectors, in April 2015 almost all sub-sectors experienced a decline compared to March 2015 except for the food crops sub-sector. The NTP and NTUP which experienced the highest decline occurred in the smallholder estate sub-sector, respectively down 2.34 percent and 2.46 percent, the livestock sub-sector respectively down 0.75 and 0.66 percent, the horticulture sub-sector respectively fell 0.53 and 0.63 percent, and the fisheries sub-sector fell by 0.48 and 0.45 percent while the food crops sub-sector increased by 3.01 and 3.40 percent respectively.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In April 2015, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.62 percent. The highest inflation occurred in the transportation and communication group of 2.68 percent.
