Abstract

Palembang City in July 2012 experienced inflation of 0.46 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 131.26 (June 2012) to 131.87 (July 2012), while nationally there was inflation of 0.70 percent

Inflation that occurred in Palembang City in July 2012 was due to an increase in CPI in 6 (six) expenditure groups, namely the foodstuffs group (0.79 percent), the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.90 percent), the housing group , water, electricity, gas and fuel (0.46 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.25 percent), the clothing group and the health group (0.03 percent each).

2012 calendar year inflation in Palembang City was 1.51 percent, while year-on-year inflation (July 2012 against July 2011) was 3.70 percent.

Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City (3.17 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Sibolga City (0.11 percent)
