In July 2024, the year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate for South Sumatra Province was 1.87 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) at 106.11. The highest inflation rate was observed in Palembang City at 2.09 percent with a CPI of 105.82, while the lowest was in Muara Enim Regency at 1.04 percent with a CPI of 106.69.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to increases in prices, as indicated by the rising indices in the following expenditure groups: food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 2.02 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel by 2.17 percent; health by 1.92 percent; transportation by 2.04 percent; recreation, sports, and culture by 1.61 percent; education by 2.86 percent; food and beverage services/restaurants by 1.59 percent; and personal care and other services by 6.45 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in their indices were: clothing and footwear by 1.40 percent; household equipment, maintenance, and routine upkeep by 0.86 percent; and information, communication, and financial services by 0.28 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate for South Sumatra Province in July 2024 was 0.29 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.35 percent.
