Why should the Economic Census be conducted?

Every decision must be made based on valid and accurate information. The Economic Census was carried out to obtain information on a complete portrait of the nation's economy, as the basis for national and regional development policies and planning. The overall data collection of all business sectors (other than the agricultural sector) will be able to produce a complete picture of the level and structure of the non-agricultural economy, along with basic information and characteristics. In addition, business competitiveness in Indonesia will also be recognized, as well as providing business information needs.

The economic census was carried out on May 1 st. June 15, 2016 simultaneously throughout Indonesia.

Palembang City BPS is assisted by the sons and daughters of Palembang City as statistical partners to carry out enumeration in 16 districts namely Ilir Barat I, Bukit Kecil, Ilir Barat II, Gandus, Ilir Timur I, Kemuning, Ilir Timur II, Kalidoni, Sukarame, Alang-Alang Lebar, Sako, Sematang Borang, Seberang Ulu I, Kertapati, Seberang Ulu II, and Plaju.

Before the implementation of the 2016 BPS Economic Census the Palembang City together with the Palembang City Government had held the 2016 Economic Census alert at the Palembang City Struggle Museum (Monpera) led by the Mayor of Palembang (Mr. H. Harnojoyo) and participated by all 2016 Economic Census officers. Palembang has officially opened the Implementation of the 2016 Palembang City Economic Census and appealed and invited all the people of Palembang City to provide actual data at the time of the census so that the Government's strategic program in dealing with the AEC will be carried out properly. "LET SUCCEED 2016 ECONOMIC CENSUS"
